Starfleet Command have decided to run a trial to see what would happen if the posts made in the Jokes forum were counted towards a user's post count figure. Previously posts did not count in an attempt to help minimise the amount of spam posts made.

Starfleet Command hopes that members will act responsibly and will continue to make posts that contribute to the community by encouraging social interaction on the forums rather than spamming purely to raise their post count figure.

There is a risk that one or two individuals may ruin it for everyone but we trust the membership to act responsibly and will just have to wait and see to confirm that we won't have any issues.

The forum rules are and always have been very clear about spamming and that we do not tolerate it. I think perhaps we have inadvertantly started to accept spam on the Jokes forum because the posts made there did not count towards the post count figure. Starfleet Command would very much like to change this attitude.

Spamming is not acceptable and it just increases the workload for our moderators and damages the forum experience for other members. But we need to tackle the problem head on by challenging and educating those that spam not by turning a blind eye to it and viewing posts that are made in the Jokes forum as less important than those made elsewhere.

Having fun is what the {UFP} is all about we don't want to penalise those that want to have a joke on the forums but we do need to make sure that everyone can get involved rather than people being put off.

As a continuing effort to make sure that our community only looks its best Starfleet Command has taken it upon ourselves to get the medals redone yet again to only be the best that we can provide for the community. This medal is the first of 9 that is to be updated.

Over the next couple of weeks this will be tasked to our senior graphics department to undertake not only a remake of the medals made previously by an outside designer but also a revamp of the medals previously made by Reggie for the {UFP}

Every Thursday night is Frag Night on the {UFP}Frag Server, however during the rest of the week, the server is left in "default mode".
With approval from Starfleet Ravens (our Elite Force division) we're giving both UFP members and general visitors the chance to suggest the server's theme for the week!

You can suggest a map, a game mode, and more from below. Then from Thursday to the following Thursday the EF Frag Server will be running your setup!

We are encouraging members to produce and submit their own media content more than ever...

We are calling on you to submit your very own videos. These videos can really be about anything. Keep in mind that your audience are primarily Star Trek gamers. This is an excellent opportunity to advertise any departments, divisions, and activities within in the fleet. Submission don't even have to be videos - they can be just audio or images. Keep your submissions appropriate.


Where do I submit my media?
Send an e-mail to Rear Admiral LynxMukka with your submission. You can either attach your submission, or include a download link in the e-mail.


How large can my submission be?
There is no file size limit. However, try to keep your file size as small as possible while optimising quality.


How long can my submission be?
Video and audio submissions must be no longer than 5 minutes in length unless special permission is granted.


What resolution do videos and images need to be?
The preferred resolution of videos and images is 720x400. This is the resolution the UFPAC is streamed at. Submissions must be no smaller than 640x480.


When is the deadline?
Submissions will be accepted until September 17, 2010*.


Will all submissions be accepted?
We will try to accommodate all submissions. You will be informed if your media will be included on the stream. Content deemed inappropriate will be rejected.


Are submissions from non-{UFP} members accepted?
No. Only {UFP} members are permitted to submit content.
